Planning Enforcement and Direct Action

The decision to commence Direct Action against persons who have purchased, developed or occupied land in contravention of planning legislation will not have been taken lightly.

Constant & Co have assisted a large number of Local Authorities throughout the country with major Direct Action operations which has contributed to our extensive knowledge in this field over the years.

Previous Direct Action operations have ranged from removal of illegal traveller sites as well as unauthorised use of land for domestic and business use.

• In 2011 we were appointed by Basildon Council to deal with the largest unauthorised traveller site in Europe- this is testimony to our unequalled expertise in this field.
• More recently we have carried out direct Action for Surrey Heath County Council on an illegal travellers site along with illegal fly tipping and Guildford Borough Council on the largest Direct Action in their history to date, illegal fly tipping on greenbelt and vulnerable persons living on the site.

We have extensive experience, and we provide advice and guidance to many Local Authority Planning Enforcement Bodies regarding Direct Action against Unauthorised Developments and use of land. This may then extend to planning and undertaking the work on their behalf.
